We Heard You, Lord
Nov. 6, 2007 – By Pastor Ronnie Wolfe
We heard you, Lord, in the thunder
As you clamored in the night.
We heard you when the rain fell
And showed your strength and might.
We heard you in the howling wind
In the fierceness of the storm
And felt a little frightened,
Lonely and forlorn.
We heard you, Lord, in the sermon
As the preacher shouted out,
Who told of God’s wondrous love,
What the Gospel’s all about.
We heard you as your Spirit came
To give us comfort, Lord.
We heard you in the Sunday School
As the teacher gave your word.
We hear you in that still, small voice
As we meditate your word,
The sweetest sound of all the land,
The greatest ever heard.
But when the trumpet sounds, dear Lord,
And the angels come to earth,
Will we lack our faith in God,
Or will we have new birth?
Come quickly, Lord, my faith’s in Thee,
Excitement fills my soul.
My body weak, my heart is slow,
My mind is getting old.
And when I stand before the throne
And see you as the Son,
Will I hear you, Lord, to say
"Well done, my child, well done?"
