Singing
This is a picture of me at the piano, along with my
sister and brother, singing at our house when I was about 12 or so years
old.
We loved to sing songs from the hymnbook. I
learned to play piano when I was seven years old. I had no teacher,
so I learned to play by ear. This has been a great blessing to me
down through the years. I have been in a gospel quartet for the past
43 years, and I have been tremendously blessed through this. We have
traveled most of the eastern United States and have many stories to tell
about our travels and our singing.
My sister and I used to sing in church a little where
we attended in a small Baptist church in Pendleton County, Kentucky.
As I was growing up, I listened to a lot of piano music
on radio. Then I would try to mimic the styles that I heard. I
was somewhat successful, but I have learned so much from others who have
given me tips from time to time. Many who did not even realize they
were doing so gave some really good tips, and I have tried to incorporate
those tips into my style. Thanks to everyone who helped!
