Getting an Ice Cream off the Good Humor Truck
(The only truck we had was a "huckster" truck.
Do you know what that is?)

steps
(No steps; therefore, no jumpin down them. Only two rooms)

(Yeah! at the sound of my father's strap, I would)
Pillow fights
(No pillows; just one big bolster)
Sleep-overs
(The only thing I slept over was dust bunnies,
and we didn't call them that)
A 13" black and white TV in
your room meant you were RICH
(Yep! Or even one in your house)
Being tired from
PLAYING
(And working)
WORK: meant taking out the garbage or doing the
dishes
(That was the girls. We boys fed and milked the cows,
hoed the crop, fixed the fence, fed the pigs and dogs,
burned the garbage AND washed dishes)
Your first crush
(Oh, yeah, I almost forgot that wonderful
orange drink)
A swig from the hose
(A swig from a what? Maybe a swig from the creek!
No hoses around)
When your parents took you
to McDonalds and you were COOL
(Maybe for the Russians or something. No McDonald's
around from the years I remember. When I saw my
First McDonald's, they were 12 cents each and I was grown,
and the sign said "One Million Sold")
